Cabling Infrastructure Technician

Role Responsibilities:

Track and prepare cabling for incoming equipment in advance.
Installation of network and cabling infrastructure in a data center environment of DC (data center)
Complete understanding of industry cable test procedures and equipment for a variety of different cabling systems (copper / fiber test equipment, Fluke DSX, DTX , Network Analyzer, VFL, etc).
Manage, check and coordinate all materials to be delivered to site daily.
Installing server racks, connecting fiber / copper cables and power cords and taking care of basic configuration in line with internal SLA.
Decommissioning of legacy equipment.

Other Responsibilities:

Follow all production, safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices.
Report current status via ticketing system, provide status reports, and email.
Manage multiple concurrent interdisciplinary projects and ability to work in a team.
Exhibit quality workmanship on all work and maintain collocation space cleanliness.
Inventory, track and manage project related materials throughout project lifecycle.
Provide daily feedback on project progress to project manager / foreman.
Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation / redline work.
Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop and implement project process improvement(s).
Must be able to travel as needed.
Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.
Occasional work in tight and/or narrow spaces, such as under raised floors.
Ensure usage of Personal Protective Equipment at all times while within the Data Center environment & adhere to all DC Safety & Security policies, practices and guidelines.

Basic Qualifications

Must possess proven problem solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentations
Must be able to work at heights, off a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 18kg and move up to 23kg
Basic networking knowledge
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook to document track and manage projects.
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
Proper use of all tools and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks
General comprehension of the various components and sub-components of data center infrastructure
English & Local language fluency

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of structured cabling experience.
Minimum 1 year of experience working in data center and team environment.
Thorough understanding of Cat 6 and OM3 – OS2 fiber optic cabling systems
Experience of troubleshooting fiber optic network cables (Using fiber tester, power meter, etc.)
Experience working with various networking hardware such as multiplexers, routers, and switches a plus
Ability to read and understand CAD drawings
Project coordination / management experience
Basic understanding of the electrical systems in critical data center operations
Basic understanding of the mechanical systems in critical data center operations
Pass or equivalent practical experience
